Great night at the Greenroom, Liverpool. Another excellent show by Mike and MPS, well worth waiting for. I think the chap on the sound deck needs a bit of training!

I saw you in Montfoort at the last day of Legends In Concert.
It was an aazing afternoon!
I was standing in the front, and i think i was the youngest there(18).
Love your music, and hope to see you again in Holland.

Janice Long played 'Hearts in Her Eyes' for me last night on her Radio 2 programme, on her 'Tunes of the Unexpected' part of her nightly show! I sent in the request a wee while ago and had forgotten about it until I heard her say at the start of the show, "I shall be playing a Searchers' record for Sylvia later in the show!"
If you want to hear it, it's on the link below and Janice says a few words about Mike and The Searchers just before she plays it, including that they've been going since 1959 and how Mike was the lead singer etc and it was nice hearing it for a change on the radio!!!
Copy and paste the link -- that is if this message appears on here before Mon 1st August: http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/console/b012r8hr -- move slider forward to 1hr 33mins and it's just after Janice finishes chatting!

I was very sad to see Mike Pender leaving The Searchers. I saw them on Halloween 1973 do a great gig at a very smoky "Northern Club" on the Rochdale Road in Manchester.Fabulous. Pender was superb! However the remaining Searchers are still a great act to watch

When I was a teenager I had every Searchers record like 1000s of others who simply loved their music. In those days the top groups always had an elite singer and they didn’t come any better or bigger in voice than Mike Pender.
When he decided to break away from the original group I knew immediately that without his presence they would always be an echo of the past, not the magic recaptured which Mike Pender’s Searchers are.

Re Sean from Ulsters message. Would be great to see them together one last time, but hardly likely. Would suggest Steve Carlisle on drums.
